Prime Minister Bliznashki Meets with Protesting Irrigation Systems Workers

Sofia, September 18 (BTA) - The demands of the protesting
workers of the state-run Irrigation Systems company are sound
and just, Prime Minister Georgi Bliznashki said after meeting
with the protestors, the Government Information Service said
Thursday.

Bliznashki assured the workers that the Government has the
strong desire to seek a long-term solution to the company's
problems, which date back to several years ago.

"A permanent solution for Irrigation Systems' stabilization is
necessary. Such a system cannot be left in such a state,
particularly after the floods in the country," Bliznashki said.
He added that, unfortunately, the national budget has not been
updated, and asked the workers to show understanding.

The Irrigation Systems employees, who have not received their
salaries and insurance contributions for months, demanded
guarantees that the 4.5 million leva allocated by the Government
will truly be used for their salaries and insurance
contributions, as the Council of Ministers decided Wednesday.
