Turkish Embassy in Sofia:
Bulgaria Has Gone a Very Long Way Based on Democracy
through Reforms in 25 Years

Sofia, November 10 (BTA) - The Turkish Embassy in Sofia has sent
a greeting address on the 25th anniversary of the November 10,
1989 democratic changes. It said: "Bulgaria has gone a very long
way based on democracy, human rights and universal values
through the reforms it carried out in the last 25 years."

The political changes which began 25 years ago are a symbol of
the end of violence, hardships, pain and suffering in Bulgaria.
November 10, 1989 marks the beginning of a new stage of freedom,
based on modern values such as democracy, human rights and the
rule of law, the Embassy said. It noted the role of Bulgarian
ethnic Turks in the democratic process and in overcoming the
difficulties of the transition period.

"This is a cause for joy to Turkey - a neighbour, a friendly
country and a reliable ally. It is our sincere wish to see
Bulgaria become a role model to other countries as a democratic,
prosperous society, developing along the line of Euro-Atlantic
values," the Turkish Embassy said.

"On this historic anniversary we offer greetings to all
statesmen and the whole civil society of Bulgaria, the
democratic political parties, local authorities, religious
communities, business representatives, art figures, media,
academic and intellectual circles and all prominent public
figures, for their determined, dedicated work," the address
read.

The Turkish Embassy offered its most sincere greetings and
wishes for prosperity and success to the Turkish citizens with
Bulgarian roots and to the friendly Bulgarian people. VI/DD
