112 Kg Heroin Intercepted at Bulgarian-Turkish Border

Haskovo,Southern Bulgaria, November 12 (BTA) - Over 112 kg
heroin have been intercepted at the Bulgarian-Turkish border,
Haskovo District Prosecutor Ivan Stoyanov told a news conference
on Wednesday. A drug smuggling channel was busted and two
Bulgarians were arrested in the area of the village of Shtit
near Svilengrad.

The heroin is worth over 13 million leva and is the largest haul
intercepted on the Bulgarian-Turkish green border.

Interior Ministry Chief Secretary Svetlozar Lazarov said that
the drug had been hidden in an underground pit in a farming
field. Two men who leased and farmed the land legally were
detained, 60-year old Srebryo Srebrov and his 32-year old son.
Srebryo was released from prison in 2011 after serving time for
murder. During a search of their home in Svilengrad officers
found firearms, munition, cell phones and SIM cards.

The two have been pressed with charges.
