Corruption in Judicial System Is Reproducing, National Ombudsman Says
Sofia, December 15 (BTA) - The judicial system is corrupt, from
the junior judges right to the top, National Ombudsman
Konstantin Penchev said in a video interview for BTA Monday. The
policies and trends in the judicial system are managed by the
"bad guys" and today the judicial system is in a worse condition
than it was in 2009 precisely because of the lack of reform, he
is convinced.
According to the Ombudsman, it will be terrible if yet again
there is no political will for reform because the system will
continue to deteriorate. In Penchev's opinion, the Supreme
Judicial Council should be a constantly operating authority and
should not be divided into two panels.
Penchev has also submitted a report about the problems of public
service consumer rights to Parliament which, he says covers the
most pressing problems over the current year. The worst thing
is that people are left alone against the monopolies. In
Penchev's opinion, this is a matter of small revisions to laws
which would improve the situation of consumers immensely.
