Sofia, December 16 (BTA) - Three foreigners wanted by Spain for
terrorist activities were arrested in Bulgaria, said the State
Agency for National Security (SANS) in a Tuesday press release.
On December 15, SANS received information along the lines of
international cooperation, that two Moroccan and one Brazilian
nationals are on Bulgarian territory, charged by Spain with
being part of a terrorist group. According to SANS, the three
suspects' goal was to pass through Bulgaria on their way to
Turkey and then Syria, where they planned to participate in
combat actions.
The three were arrested at the Kapitan Andreevo border
checkpoint on the border with Turkey, while attempting to leave
the country on Tuesday - the same day they were put on
Interpol's wanted persons list by Spain.
The Supreme Cassation Prosecution Office has been notified about
the case. The three foreigners have been handed over to the
police, so they can be extradited. PK/MY
