Cherno More Bourgas Miners Go on Strike Underground for 13 Hours

Bourgas, on the Black Sea, December 17 (BTA) - The miners at the
Cherno More Bourgas mine were on strike underground. The night
shift of some 45 miners remained underground, the Podkrepa
Confederation of Labour said Wednesday morning. The rest of
their colleagues were outside and supported them.

The spontaneous strike was prompted by unpaid wages.

The last time the miners received labour remuneration was in
October, in the form of 350 leva advance payment. A group which
will take them food and water has been formed. The miners
refused to come out until they receive their money.

Later in the day the miners called off their protest, local
trade union leader Chavdar Mikolashev said. They spent about 13
hours underground.

An agreement has been reached that they will receive part of
their wages for November, about 550 leva each. They have also
been assured that the money for October has been remitted. The
money for November will be remitted after some 360,000 due by
the Sliven District Heating Company is paid.

In September about a hundred employees of the mine protested,
spending 40 hours underground because of unpaid wages.
