President Plevneliev: Bulgarian Companies Are Willing to Invest in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Sarajevo, April 23 (BTA special correspondent Asen Boyadjiev) -
Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev said in Sarajevo on
Thursday that Bulgarian companies have grown more confident
during the process of European integration and nowadays they are
willing to invest in Bosnia and Herzegovina. "There is very
strong potential for even more Bulgarian investment in Bosnia
and Herzegovina," Plevneliev said, addressing the Foreign Trade
Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina and business people.

He said he expects that the two countries will shortly sign an
agreement on reciprocal protection of investments.

Bulgarian pharmaceutical, food, energy and IT companies want to
be active in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider region,
Plevneliev said.

"I have come here to offer you our support on the path of
difficult reforms, a path which is arduous yet correct, the path
of European integration," he said. The President outlined
Bulgaria's economic difficulties and accomplishments of the last
15 years.

During the meeting a state-owned Bosnian company declared its
interest in implementing energy projects with Bulgarian
businesses.

Earlier in the day Plevneliev conferred with ranking members of
the two chambers of the parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina and
with the country's Prime Minister Denis Zvizdic.

Towards the end of his visit to Sarajevo Plevneliev travelled to
the headquarters of the EU military operation in Bosnia and
Herzegovina (EUFOR) in Camp Butmir and conferred with its
Commander, Major General Johann Luif, and with the Bulgarian
military contributing to Operation Althea. Bulgaria has 10
servicepersons working with EUFOR headquarters.
