1,333,000 Foreigners Visit Bulgaria in June

Sofia, July 27 (BTA) - In June 2015, foreign visitors' arrivals to Bulgaria numbered 1,33,000 or 3.7 more than in June 2014, the National Statistical Institute reported. Trips for other purposes and for a professional purpose increased by 42.2 per cent and 4.6 per cent, respectively, while trips for holiday and recreation purpose decreased by 23.9 per cent.

In June 2015, Bulgarian residents' trips abroad numbered 468,300, or 13.9 per cent more than in June 2014. Compared with the same month of the previous year, the total number of Bulgarians' trips increased: to Turkey by 34.1 per cent, to Greece by 32 per cent, to Germany by 14.1 per cent, to Spain by 11.2 per cent, etc. At the same time, the total number of Bulgarians' trips decreased: to Ukraine by 56.3 percent, to the Czech Republic by 21.8 per cent, to Macedonia by 17.7 per cent, to the Russian Federation by 9.3 per cent, to Israel by 2.2 per cent, to Romania by 1.4 per cent.

The trips for other purposes (as a guest, education and visit the cultural and sport events) in June 2015 accounted for the largest share of the total number of Bulgarian residents' trips abroad: 44.1 per cent, followed by trips for holiday and recreation purposes, 33.3 per cent. Trips for a professional purpose marked a decrease of 3.8 per cent.

Visits by ЕU citizens accounted for 57.6 per cent of the total number of foreigners' visits to Bulgaria in June 2015, or by 0.5 per cent more than in the same month a year earlier. Visits by citizens of Greece increased by 17.5 per cent, of Romania by 10.5 per cent, of Germany by 4.7 per cent, etc. At the same time, visits from France decreased by 37.9 per cent, from Italy by 26 per cent, from Poland by 18.6 per cent, from the United Kingdom by 16.1 per cent, etc. In June 2015, the predominant share of visits for holiday and recreation purpose, was 49.9 per cent.
