Chinese Procurator-General Cao Jianming Visits Bulgaria

Sofia, August 21 (BTA) - Chinese Procurator-General Cao Jianming started his official two-day visit to Bulgaria with a meeting with Vice President Margarita Popova here on Friday. The Chinese delegation led by the Procurator-General is in this country at the invitation of Bulgarian Prosecutor General Sotir Tsatsarov.

At the meeting, Popova and Cao Jianming underscored the traditionally good bilateral relations in various spheres, the head of State's press secretariat said. The guest said that Bulgaria was the second country to recognize the People's Republic of China and that his country is grateful for this and will never forget the signifance of this political act. China relies on market economy's development so the exchange of good practices with Bulgaria, which is a EU Member State, is of significant importance to China, he also said.

The Vice President noted that the excellent direct contacts between the two countries' prosecuting magistracies have a key role for the good bilateral relations. "Economic crime and corruption are two scourges on a world scale and we have to fight them with joint efforts," Popova said.

She added that she values China's position on the peaceful resolution of conflicts around the world.
