Reformist Bloc Signs Agreement for  Single Registration for October Local Elections

Sofia, September 2 (BTA) - A couple of days after they announced
their plans to run on a single ticket in the local elections in
October, the five member parties of the Reformist Bloc (RB)
Right-wing coalition signed an official agreement to that
effect.

The document was undersigned by the leaders of the five parties:
Democrats for Strong Bulgaria, Bulgaria for the Citizens
Movement, the Union of Democratic Forces,  the Bulgarian
Agrarian National Union and the People's Party for Freedom and
Dignity, said the RB press office.

They also agreed on joint candidates for the mayor's office in
nine regional centres, including Prof. Vili Lilkov in Sofia
(where former Economy Minister Traicho Traikov will top the
ticket for municipal councilors).

The coalition decided Monday that where the local chapters of
the member parties are unable to agree on a common candidate, a
decision will be made by arbitration on central level. Local
chapters which choose to stick to their own candidate contrary
to the decision of the arbitration, will be unable to use the
"Reformist Bloc" brand or the name of their party in the
elections.

Despite the joint participation of the coalition, the member
parties keep their sovereignty and a decision on their
transformation into a single political entity is yet to be made
with no clear time horizon for this project.
