GERB, RB Agree on Fair  Elections

Sofia, September 2 (BTA) - GERB and the Reformist Bloc (RB)
agreed on fair play at the upcoming local elections. A meeting
between Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and GERB Floor Leader
Tsvetan Tsvetanov, of the one part, and RB co-floor leaders
Radan Kanev and Nayden Zelenogorski, on the other, was held in
Parliament's building on Wednesday.

No matter which party would win in the separate regions, the
overall result should guarantee that the governance is steady
and without an alternative, Borissov said. "In case of poor
performance, this would be a bad signal for the work of the
Government," he added. The Prime Minister stated that they will
conduct a tolerant campaign.

Radan Kanev said that the sides reached an agreement on three
very important points: steady governance through common
parliamentary priorities during the upcoming session;
stabilization and better organization of the work of the
parliamentary majority; overall acceleration of the reforms and
the modernization of the governance, while not allowing the
local elections to hinder this process.

Kanev said further that the adoption of constitutional changes
within the current Parliament's session is also among the common
priorities. The voting of anti-corruption and procedural laws,
the Pre-school and School Education Act, the Medical
Establishments Act and the Financial Supervision Commission Act
as well as  further changes of the pension and labour
legislation are other priorities.

The two formations attach particular importance to common
positions in regards to the tax and budget policy and the
upcoming personnel changes in the regulatory authorities, said
Kanev.
