Labour Minister Kalfin Takes Part in Informal European Ministerial in Stockholm

Stockholm/Sofia, September 12 (BTA) - Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Labour and Social Policy Minister Ivailo Kalfin took part in an informal European ministerial meeting in Stockholm on Thursday and Friday, his ministry said in a press release.

The meeting focused on the ways to improve the working conditions within the EU internal market. Also on the agenda was the Labour Mobility Package to be presented by the European Commission at the end of 2015.

Kalfin said that the regulation of the EU labour market can surely be improved but it should be placed in a broader context. "Apart from the question of employees on business trips, it is of particular importance to pay greater attention to and improve the guaranteeing of the rights of both self-employed persons and those working at home, including house assistants, babysitters and workers assisting elderly or ill people," he noted.

"The solution which the European Commission should propose for the improvement of the guarantees for the rights of employees on business trips, should correspond to the EU principles of free movement of persons, goods and services. Furthermore, the solution should be universal for the entire market instead of segment it over activities," Kalfin also said.
