BSP Calls for Emergency Parliamentary Meeting over Refugees

Sofia, December 6 (BTA) - The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) will request an emergency parliamentary meeting over refugee issues, BSP leader Kornelia Ninova told a news conference on Tuesday.

The socialists suggest that the Prime Minister, ministers and the security services be given a hearing and that parties rally around the prompt construction of the border fence, money for the armed forces along the border, stepped up efforts to prevent illegal migration and human trafficking, a repeal of a cabinet ordinance for the resettlement of refugees and a firm position before Europe for a revision of the Dublin Treaty.

Ninova said that her party plans to raise the issue at Wednesday's Blitz Question Time in Parliament and at a leadership meeting in Parliament in order to set the date and procedures should it be held behind closed doors. She said that last week's Consultative Council for National Security under the President was the place for such a consensus but the majority of politicians were busy bargaining for a mandate.
