Tallinn/Sofia, September 15 (BTA) - The President of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) took part in the 'Future of Work: Making IT e-Easy' event organised under the Estonian EU Presidency, CITUB said Friday. The forum gathered politicians, trade union representatives, business organisations, scientists and NGOs.

Guy Ryder, Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), and Luca Visentini, General Secretary of the European Trade Union Confederation, were special guest lecturers.

According to Dimitrov, we have been witnessing a rapid concentration of technological products in the hands of a very small number of companies and persons in recent years.

IT, the web and social networks direct politics in new ways, regardless of whether it is a matter of democratic or authoritarian regimes. Taxation capacity is declining and production resources have never been so mobile. Society has both the right to and the obligation to control this, as our future will continue to be a hostage of new technologies, he added.

Investments in digital knowledge and skills are the other imperative. These are even more important for countries such as Bulgaria. Technologies change the world of labour but they also form a future and are even more important for countries like Bulgaria, Dimitrov said.
