Sofia, September 27 (BTA) - The National Revenue Agency (NRA) has collected over 3 million leva following the introduction of permanent monitoring of the debts of traders in liquid fuels and owners of licensed excise warehouses, the NRA said Wednesday. This measure envisages constant tracing of debts and direct phone contact, if traders and excise warehouse holders do not submit in the budget on time their taxes, insurance contributions, and debts for excise and customs duties.

This special monitoring was applied to 82 excise warehouse holders in August 2017, of which 32 subsequently cleared their debts of 800,000 leva and another 32 paid partially or secured their debts. The NRA has informed the Customs Agency of an incorrect warehouse holder whose license should be revoked, and notices will be sent to another 12 holders for failure to undertake any actions to pay their debts.

Since October 2016, special monitoring has been applied to 91 traders in liquid fuels who have VAT debts. They have been listed in a special register and are obliged to make payments under the Value Added Tax Act, with the total number of traders on the register exceeding 500. The current results from the monitoring show that from October 2016 to August 2017, following a call from the NRA, these 91 traders paid 2 million leva of overdue debts.

The NRA said that the measure of permanent monitoring has both a fiscal and a disciplining effect, because companies usually correct their behaviour if they have been under the scrutiny of the revenue administration once.
