site.btaNuclear Reactor Annual Maintenance Session Completed Successfully

Vratsa, Northwestern Bulgaria, October 26 (BTA) - The annual maintenance session for Reactor Unit 6 of the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant came to an end and the 1,000 MW facility was brought back on stream at 2:06 p.m. on Thursday after a check and approval by the Nuclear Regulatory Agency, the plant's press office reported.

During the annual maintenance session, which began on September 16, experts successfully carried out scheduled repairs and preventive maintenance of the unit's equipment and systems. The reactor was refuelled for the next fuel cycle.

Under a project to extend the service life of Reactor Unit 6, the plant carried out comprehensive examination and replacement of equipment components according to the plan.

The only other operational reactor at Kozloduy, the 1,000 MW Unit 5, is working at full capacity.
