Sofia, May 20 (BTA) - GERB MPs Stanislav Ivanov and Alexander Ivanov will alert the prosecution authority and the State Agency for National Security about a Facebook post by socialist MP Tasko Ermenkov in which he wrote that the water in the capital Sofia is contaminated.

The two MPs and Lorita Radeva, chair of the environmental commission at the Sofia town hall dismissed the above allegations at a news briefing at GERB's headquarters.

Radeva said that all 24-hour checks of the drinking water in Sofia don't show any abnormalities with regards to quality. All tests carried by the Sofiyska voda utility don't show any changes in the physical, chemical, organoleptic and microbiological properties of the water, said Radeva. She added that tests don't indicate any changes in the water quality or elevated levels of pollution. The drinking water in Sofia has been ranked as Europe's sixth cleanest because it is sourced from the mountains and modern technologies are used for its purification.

Lorita Radeva said that Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova has ordered more frequent checks of water with samples from varied locations. Radeva said that the information will be published on the website of Sofiyska voda. Currently data about the water quality are available on the utility's website on the instructions of the mayor. Radeva said that the local authorities wonТt conceal any information from the public as the communist government did with the Chernobyl disaster in 1986.

Stanislav Ivanov urged the Bulgarian Socialist party and its leader Kornelia Ninova to take responsibility for Ermenkov's post.
