Bucharest, May 21 (BTA) - Members of Bulgaria's parliamentary Committee on Internal Security and Public Order and of Romania's Committee for Defence, Public Order and National Security (CDPONS) with the Chamber of Deputies held a joint sitting here on Monday, the Bulgarian National Assembly said.

The working visit to Romania took place at the invitation of the CDPONS and its head Dorel-Gheorghe Caprar. Also attending was Romanian Minister-delegate for European Affairs Victor Negrescu, who presented the work of his department.

Bulgarian Committee Chairman Tsvetan Tsvetanov thanked Caprar for the support for the adoption with consensus of the Rules of Procedure of the Joint Parliamentary Scrutiny Group on Europol, because the Romanian delegation was among those with initial reservations.

The participants in the working meeting shared the opinion that the two countries guarantee the security of 3,264 km of the most vulnerable part of the EU's external borders and provide a high level of border control, thus contributing significantly to European security.
