site.btaPM Borissov Meets with US Attorney General Sessions in Sofia

Sofia, May 22 (BTA) - Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov Tuesday met with US Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who is paying a visit to Sofia, the Government Information Service said.

Their talks focused on the commitment their countries share in the fight against international terrorism, drug trafficking and trafficking in human beings, and in cyber security protection. They also discussed other areas of bilateral cooperation in justice, including extraditions and mutual legal assistance.

PM Borissov raised the matter of Zhelyaz Andreev and four other Bulgarians for whom the USA have submitted an extradition request. He said that Bulgaria does not question its 2008 extradition agreement with the USA but that Bulgarian institutions will continue to work actively on solving the case and protecting the rights of Bulgarian citizens.

The meeting was attended by Bulgarian Justice Minister Tsetska Tsacheva and Prosecutor General Sotir Tsatsarov.
