site.btaDeputy PM and Foreign Minister Zaharieva to Attend EU Foreign Affairs Council Meeting in Brussels on May 28

Sofia, May 27 (BTA) - Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva will take part in a EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels on May 28, Zaharieva's Ministry said in a press release on Sunday.

The Council will discuss Iran and the nuclear deal (JCPOA) in light of the latest developments, in particular after the US decision to withdraw from the agreement. This follows the discussion by EU leaders at their meeting in Sofia on May 16. At this meeting, they agreed unanimously that the EU will stay in the agreement as long as Iran remains fully committed to it, the press release says.

The results of the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Sofia on May 17, recent developments related to North Korea and to Yemen, the political situation in Venezuela after the May 20 presidential election and the situation in Gaza following recent developments, including in relation to the move of the US Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, will also figure on the agenda of the forum.
