site.btaOnline Registration Now Available for Short-Term Contracts for Seasonal Farm Work

Sofia, May 28 (BTA) - As of Monday, farmers can declare online one-day and four-hour employment contracts, the General Labour Inspectorate Executive Agency (GLIEA) said. The new service is available thanks to a timely update of the system for online provision, registration and reporting of sample contracts for employing seasonal farm workers under the Labour Code. Farmers still have the option to declare such contracts in person at their local GLIEA office.

One-day employment contracts were introduced in July 2015 to create an opportunity for easier hiring and greater mobility of seasonal farm workers and bringing the farm labour force out of the grey sector.

From January 2018 to present, the GLIEA provided to registered farmers a total of 71,360 samples of one-day employment contracts, which is an increase of 50 per cent compared to the like period of 2017. The highest number of these contracts were used by vine-growers (23,100) and rose-growers (20,650).
