Six Seriously Injured
in Bus Crash
Veliko Turnovo, North-central Bulgaria, September 21 (BTA) - A
Romanian bus crashed early on Sunday morning in the Pass of the
Republic (Balkan Mountains), killing a 27-year-old woman and
seriously injuring six other passengers. The bus was bringing some 50
Romanian tourists back home from Turkey, the Veliko Turnovo
Regional Police Directorate said.
The six injured are in stable condition and can be transported
to Romania via helicopters, said the Veliko Turnovo Regional
Hospital Director Dr. Stefan Filev. A total of 27 Romanians have
been examined at the hospital's emergency room, he added.
The Gorna Oryahovitsa Airport has been prepared for the arrival
of two medical helicopters, said the Airport's Director Peter
Petrov.
The uninjured passengers are accommodated in a building at the
Vasil Levski National Military University, until their transport
back to Romania is organized. The reasons for the crash are
being investigated and pre-trial proceedings have been
