Bill Aimed to Facilitate Search for Missing Persons
Sofia, April 13 (BTA) - The Council of Ministers approved draft amendments to the Electronic Communications Bill and decided to move them to the National Assembly for conclusive approval, the government information service reported on Wednesday. The amendments are aimed to allow the competent authorities to use the possibilities of modern communication technology when searching for missing persons, provided that their actions do not violate the constitutional rights of citizens.
The bill stipulates that information from services provided by public electronic communication networks may be used for the purposes of search operations when there is a reasonable assumption that a missing person has become, or may become, a victim of serious crime.
