site.btaGerb Alerts Prosecutor General About Tsankov Kamuk Dam Case

Sofia, August 14 (BTA) - GERB MPs Monday submitted an alert to the Prosecutor General describing thcase of Tsankov Kamuk dam. Dessilava Atanassova explained that the investment in the structure is so large that there cannot be returns on it for centuries. Nevertheless, cracks appeared in the wall just seven years after it was built.

Atanassova quoted information according to which the project rate of return was negative. The public must learn whether it needed this project in view of the price paid, recalling that it was implemented during the governance of the three-partite coalition.

The alert is prompted by defects which have appeared just seven years after the completion of the project, and public money will have to be spent on remedying them. Tsankov Kamuk was initially set to cost 440 million leva but the amount soared to nearly a billion in the end.

MP Alexander Nankov, in turn, said the project is yet another illustration of money used without a normal purpose and to the detriment of the public. The revenue of Tsankov Kamuk is about 10-15 million a year, he recalled.
