Representatives of five countries took part in a tarator-making contest in Razgrad on Monday. The Let's Make Tarator, Not Terror contest was part of the Yoghurt Fair and Festival of Folk Traditions and Artistic Crafts, which opened on Sunday for the 22nd time

Participants from Turkiye, Romania, Mexico, Timor-Leste and Bulgaria all had separate tasks for preparing the traditional Bulgarian cold soup together. They submitted their dish for evaluation to a jury, which gave all of them certificates and prizes.

The ingredients of this simple soup are cucumbers, plain yoghurt, crushed garlic cloves, fresh dill, water and salt.

The Wewiku Wehali Cultural Association from the city of Dili in Timor-Leste was named the most artistic and creative tarator maker, while the participants from Romania got a certificate for the most gentle cow milking. The prize for most skillful tarator making went to the team of Ballet Folklorico del Norte from Ciudad Juarez in Chihuahua state, Mexico. The participants from Turkiye made the Best Vegetarian Tarator without Cut Fingers, while the Bulgarian team worked the fastest.

The teams got one watermelon each and T-shirts bearing the logo of the Yoghurt Fair. The organizers thanked the teams and asked them to share the recipe with family in their countries.
