The Chinese Ih Tsetsn Ensemble from Inner Mongolia will perform a concert in the courtyard of the Archaeological Museum in Varna on Tuesday.

As representatives of the new generation of Mongolian performers, they skillfully combine the traditional musical language with the specific sensitivity of life in the vast grasslands, the organizers said. The name Ih Tsetsn means “broad, inclusive, and wise” in the Mongolian language. Ih Tsetsn performs khoomei throat-singing and long song, two genres that have been included in UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The music director and conductor of the ensemble is the composer Zhu  Zhizhong, who is known as a creator of music for TV series and productions, music-dance productions, documentaries and environmental projects. He is a multiple winner of the prestigious Arts Award of the State Radio and Television Administration of China.

The ensemble has a number of awards and numerous performances in China, Germany, Italy, Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, Belgium. They have also played played at the Kennedy Centre in Washington, USA.

The concert is organized in partnership with the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Bulgaria and is part of the accompanying programme of the Varna Summer International Music Festival.
