A total of 217 runners took part in the 3rd edition of the Kazanlak Rose Valley Marathon, said the press centre of the local administration on Monday. Participants from Bulgaria, China, Great Britain and Italy took part in the event. The youngest runner was nine years old, while the oldest was 76 years old.

The marathon included a short distance run of 10 km, a half marathon of 21 km and the classic marathon distance of 42 km. The routes were all in the vicinity of Kazanlak in the direction of the town of Kren, the town of Shipka and the villages of Enina, Hadjidimitrovo and Sheynovo.

Four records were improved in this year's edition of the marathon. Kolyo Raichinov won the men's 42 km race, while Nadezhda Angelova won the women's marathon. In the half-marathon, Georgi Stefanov and Maya Ruseva finished first, and in the 10 km distance Dimitar Genov and Tania Dimitrova won the run.

Eagle's Nest Kazanlak Tourist Association and Kazanlak Municipality were the organizers of the marathon, with ultramarathon runner Radi Milev also taking part in the preparations of the event. Milev is among the proposals for entry into Kazanlak's Book of Honor, which will be voted on on Tuesday by the local Municipal Council.
