The Milan Teatro alla Scala Orchestra is visiting Varna on April 29 with a concert in the Festival and Congress Centre, the organizers said on Monday.

Conductor and soloist is violinist Mario Hossen. On stage will appear also Bulgarian soprano Krassimira Stoyanova. The musicians will perform famous arias from works by Bach and Handel, as well as Antonio Vivaldi's masterpiece The Four Seasons. The sheet music is based on a manuscript that the conductor received from Italy.

The organizers say that Hossen has been in touch with the Milan Orchestra since 2004. According to him, the orchestra musicians have solo performances, which give them the opportunity to express their abilities, personal approach and temperament. There are also two Bulgarian violinists in the orchestra - Elitsa Demirova, who is from Varna, and Evgenia Staneva from Plovdiv.

Hossen and Stoyanova have had a deep friendship over the years, as they have known each other since the time when she was a violinist in the Plovdiv Philharmonic. This will be their first joint appearance in tandem with operatic singing and instrumental music, and Hossen revealed that the two also have future joint plans, with which he hopes to delight fans of instrumental and operatic art.

As the artistic director of the Varna Summer International Music Festival, Hossen developed a tradition of organizing concerts of valuable works from the Baroque era and is happy that this music is alive and the halls are always full for baroque concerts. As a music researcher, he says he is glad that the study of Baroque continues and believes that other masterpieces are yet to be discovered in libraries and archives in Europe.

The concert is a joint production of the European Music Festival in Varna and the Varna Summer International Music Festival, with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute and the Embassy of Italy in Bulgaria under the patronage of Ambassador Giuseppina Zarra.
