An analysis of water samples from the Devinska River, collected hours after a leakage of wastewater on August 4, showed a minimal elevation of the normal levels of ammonia nitrogen, orthophosphates and total phosphorus, the Environment Ministry said on Tuesday. Water samples from the collecting pipe of the Devin bottling factory showed a slight elevation of pH- 10,28±0,05 compared with a normal range of 6 to 9, the regional environment inspectorate in Smolyan said.

The reason for the low concentrations is the one-off nature of the pollution, the Environment Ministry says. The samples were taken one hour after an alert about dead fish was filed and supposedly the leakage took place several hours earlier.

At the time of collecting the samples the leakage was over and the effects on the fish fauna was one-off.

On August 4 during the replacement of pumps at the Devin bottling company wastewater was incidentally leaked in the Devinska River.
