The Bulgarian Embassy in Paris marked the 145th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between France and Bulgaria with an event featuring Bulgarian violinist Svetlin Roussev, the Embassy said on the Foreign Ministry's website.

The event took place in the Gustave Eiffel Room in the Eiffel Tower. Members of the Diplomatic Corps, leaders and members of international organizations and representatives of the Bulgarian community graced it with their presence.

Ambassador Radka Balabanova addressed those present, stressing that the two countries have excellent relations in many areas, including politics, the economy and culture. The diplomat recalled that Bulgarian artists and intellectuals have contributed to French and world culture.

A chamber performance by Svetlin Roussev and his daughter Chloe was one of the highlights of the event.

Bulgaria and France established diplomatic relations on July 8, 1879. At present, bilateral relations are based on "a strategic partnership that both sides are keen to deepen, respecting national traditions and sensitivities".
