site.btaTaraclia Region to Receive Funding under Moldovan National Programme "European Village-2024"

The Moldovan government has approved the projects under the national programme for rural development "European Village 2024-2028".

The cost of implementing the programme is estimated at more than RON 5.3 billion, of which more than 2.5 billion will be provided by the state budget through the National Fund for Regional and Local Development.

A small part of the contributions from the villages themselves is foreseen, and almost half of the funds will be provided by development partners. The list also includes eight projects of settlements in the Taraclia region, densely populated by Bulgarians.

Thus, in the next year and a half, the local authorities must carry out work on the following projects:

- Redevelopment of the Museum of Cultural Heritage in Taraclia (2nd stage);

- Reconstruction of the town park and improvement of the adjacent area in Tvarditsa;

- Establishment of a Heritage Museum in the village of Valia Perzei;

- Water supply, sewerage and wastewater treatment in the village of Korten (2nd stage);

- Warm School - Healthy Child - Healthy Spirit Project in Dolna Albota;

- Provision of clean water for the village of Kirilovka, Vinogradovka municipality;

- Reconstruction and equipment of a kindergarten in the village of Balabani;

- Major renovation and equipment of the assembly and sports hall in kindergarten in Novoselovka village.

A total of 612 projects have been approved for funding in Moldova. The largest number of applications submitted related to water supply and sanitation. Projects aimed at improving energy efficiency came second. 

The government's European Village Programme was launched in 2022 on the initiative of President Maia Sandu.

"Our common goal is to build Europe here at home, project by project and settlement by settlement, because European Moldova means modern villages and towns where people live well, have access to quality services and can develop local businesses," Prime Minister Dorin Recean said at the government meeting, announcing the new projects under the programme. In his words, "European Village" brings EU funds closer to Moldova, which became available during its preparation for EU membership.

All the projects must be approved by the government, after which the National Department for Regional and Local Development will start signing contracts for funding.
