Day 10: Sv. Sv. Kiril i Metodii Continues Westward, Expected in Cartagena
Around midnight on January 4 the Bulgarian naval research/survey vessel Sv. Sv. Kiril i Metodii was continuing on its way westward, some 130 nautical miles away from the Spanish shore, the head of Navigational Department, Lt. Commander Hristo Hristov, told BTA.
With favourable wind along the stern at 4 metres per second, pleasant weather and no swell, Hristov added they expected to see shore in the morning.
NAVAL RSV 421 is continuing on its course across the Mediterranean to the Spanish port of Cartagena, its first stop on its historic maiden voyage to Livingstone Island to support the 31st Bulgarian Antarctic Expedition. The journey to the Bulgarian Antarctic base on the island is expected to last about 40 days.
BTA's Daily News editor Konstantin Karagyozov is the only member of the media who is travelling on the ship to Livingston Island and back, and will cover the Bulgarian expedition on site throughout their stay in Antarctica.
