Day 6: Strait of Sicily-Malta
At 2 pm Bulgarian time on January 1, the sixth day of her journey to Antartica, the Bulgarian research military ship Sv. Sv. Kiril i Metodii is around 100 sea miles from the strait dividing the Italian island of Sicily and Malta in the Mediterranean Sea. From there, the ship will head west-northwest towards the Spanish port city of Cartagena, her first stopover on the way to the Bulgarian base on Livingston Island.
The ship is expected to reach the port late on January 5.
BTA's Daily News editor Konstantin Karagyozov is the only member of the media who is travelling on the ship to Livingston Island and back, and will accompany the Bulgarian expedition during the whole stay in Antarctica.
