The official opening of the first BTA Press Club in Skopje took place on February 4, 2022, the day on which the 150th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Gotse Delchev was celebrated. The press club is located in the very centre of the capital of the Republic of North Macedonia and the aim is to become a venue for press conferences, interviews, events, meetings and exchange of experience between journalists from Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia.

The first guests were the prime ministers of Bulgaria Kiril Petkov and of North Macedonia Dimitar Kovacevski on January 18, even before the press club was officially opened. This happened during Petkov's official visit to Skopje.

The official opening was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, Teodora Genchovska, the Minister of Culture of North Macedonia Bisera Kostadinovska Stojchevska, the Chairman of the Bulgarian Parliamentary Committee on Culture and Media, Toshko Yordanov, the Special Rapporteur of the European Parliament for the Republic of North Macedonia, Ilhan Kyuchyuk, the Ambassador of Bulgaria to the Republic of North Macedonia, Angel Angelov, among other officials.

"This is a home of real news to help the media, mostly from our two countries. We, the media are responsible for which of today's news will

remain for tomorrow as a memory from yesterday, while BTA has a century-old record of the real news. We will leave in this press club copies of the news from Macedonia in BTA's first printed news bulletins, in which the Agency covers news from world media about the unrest and struggles of our ancestors here," said BTA Director General Kiril Valchev during the press club's opening.

From 1992 to 1995 BTA had a permanent correspondent in Skopje - Nikolay Koev. Marinela Velichkova has worked as BTA's correspondent in North Macedonia's capital since the beginning of 2022. Her professional career is related to reporting and analyzing the processes in the Balkans as a journalist in two national media.
