BTA's new Home Unveiled in Kyustendil on March 21, 2024, during Kyustendil Spring Festival

BTA correspondents based in Kyustendil were working from their homes until April 3, 2014, when then BTA Director General Maxim Minchev and the mayors of Sofia and Kyustendil, Yordanka Fandakova and Petar Paunov, opened a BTA press club in town.

"BTA's new home in Kyustendil is an example of how we can build on what has been achieved before us," BTA Director General Kiril Valchev said in his opening remarks.

The building, which is located close to the Vladimir "The Master" Dimitrov Art Gallery and the museum-house of Dimitar Peshev, was provided at no cost by Kyustendil Mayor Ognyan Atanassov and the Municipal Council.

The first correspondent in Kyustendil, Borislav Tasev, started work in 1975. His successor, Emil Mihaylov, started work in 1988, however, he was covering the region from Blagoevgrad. Lili Granitska became the next correspondent based in Kyustendil in 1995. The current Kyustendil correspondent, Elitsa Ivanova, has been working for BTA since March 10, 2011.

The event was attended by BTA Director General Kiril Valchev, Kyustendil Regional Governor Alexander Pandurski, Kyustendil Mayor Ognyan Atanassov, Bulgarian Ambassador to North Macedonia Angel Angelov, politician Maya Manolova, MEP Angel Dzhambazki, local and state officials, as well as by representatives of cultural institutions in Kyustendil.
