Atanas Atanasov, chairman of Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB), part of Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria coalition, will ask for a vote of confidence from the party members and wants a National Council of the formation to be convened. One of the reasons is that the dialogue with the voters is broken.

"The strength of our community has always been in honest dialogue with our constituents. We allowed it to be broken and the consequences were not late. Restoring the dialogue begins with the scheduling of a national convention. It should give its critical assessment of our decisions and actions so far," the statement says. 

For his part, Atanasov will ask for a vote of confidence from members and supporters, saying he will rely on frank dialogue to point the way forward. “I am convinced that despite the mistakes we have made, we have achieved a definite success - a consolidation of the democratic community that is unparalleled in the last two decades - initially within the framework of Democratic Bulgaria, and later - with our partners from Continue the Change,” the DSB leader says. In his words, this consolidation should continue with the attraction of new partners from the political and civil sector.

According to Atanasov's assessment, the results of the DSB elections show the preservation of their parliamentary representation and representation in the European Parliament. “This, however, should not reassure us, the internal analysis is just beginning and I can assure you that we are open-minded about the difficult conclusions that will inevitably be drawn,” Atanasov says. Monday, Yes Bulgaria leader Hristo Ivanov said that he is stepping down as party chairman and will not be part of the 50th National Assembly. One of the reasons is the poor communication with the voters that led to the poor results of the vote.
