GERB leader Boyko Borissov called for "good manners" in politics and urged his opponents to "soften the political rhetoric". Speaking at a campaign rally in the western town of Pernik, he called for "warrantees for security and stability of Bulgarian people" after the elections.
Borissov attacked former Finance Minister Assen Vassilev for his remark that the caretaker Cabinet "is planning to steal BGN 100 million from pensioners by raising pensions by 10% instead of 11% as of July 1". He said that Continue the Change were "lying". "They know what the real condition of the State is and that somebody will have to patch up a new budget in August-September. It will be wonderful if that is GERB and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms," said Borissov.
Borissov also said that he hoped GERB will win the elections "because people are scared by what is happening in Ukraine and Gaza".
