Vazrazhdane Leader Kostadin Kostadinov said at a press conference in Kuystendil, Southwestern Bulgaria, on Monday that it is of the utmost importance that more people vote in the snap elections on June 9.  Low voter turnout calls into question the legitimacy and representativeness of the legislature and executive, stressed Kostadinov.

The Vazrazhdane leader argued that only his party is dealing with only we deal with politics, while the others are focusing on the redistribution of posts and money. “Only we put the Bulgarian national interest above everything else," he said.

The goal of Vazrazhdane is to win the upcoming elections or at least second place. "We are ready to talk with any political force apart from the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, but under five conditions," Kostadinov said. Among them are referendums on the preservation of the Bulgarian lev and Bulgaria's membership in NATO, a guarantee that Bulgarian soldiers will not be sent to Ukraine, an end to sanctions on the Russian Federation, and renegotiation of EU membership.

"Even if we don't like the elected officials, we are obliged to respect the voters, because tomorrow they will be ours," Kostadinov said.
