Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, in a post on the social network X on Tuesday, expressed his sympathies with the families affected by the terrible tragedy, after a school shooting left multiple people dead earlier today in Graz, Austria.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic news from Graz. We sympathize with the families, friends, students and teachers affected by this senseless act of violence. Bulgaria stands in solidarity with Austria at this difficult time," Zhelyazkov added.

Multiple people have been killed in an attack at a school in the southern Austrian city of Graz, according to authorities. The victims include students and teachers. There are also injured, but it has not yet been reported exactly how many.

Police said that there had been "several deaths" after an operation was launched following reports of gunshots in the street, and added that the school had been successfully evacuated.

According to Austrian state broadcaster, ORF, and the Reuters news agency, the suspected perpetrator of the attack is a student who allegedly committed suicide.

Graz has around 300,000 inhabitants and is the capital of Styria state.
