Bulgarian President Rumen Radev is visiting Warsaw on Monday and Tuesday at the invitation of his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda to participate in the Three Seas Summit, Radev’s press secretariat said.
On the first day of his visit, Radev will go to the National Library of Poland, which keeps part of the original of the Codex Suprasliensis. The 10th-century Cyrillic literary monument is the largest extant Old Church Slavonic canon manuscript. It is on UNESCO's Memory of the World list. In recognition of the significant role of Poland’s main public library in preserving and popularizing the Codex Suprasliensis and on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of its discovery, Radev will present the institution with the Plaquette of St Cyril and St Methodius. The distinction will be received by the library director, Tomasz Makowski.
On Tuesday, the President of Bulgaria will participate in the 10th edition of the Three Seas Summit. The Three Seas Initiative is aimed to promote cooperation and connectivity in the energy, transport and digital domains among 13 EU member states: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. The Initiative also includes Ukraine and Moldova as associated countries, and Germany, the European Commission, the United States and Japan as strategic partners.
A business forum will be held during the summit to present and discuss various projects for the development of the region’s transport, energy and digital connectivity. President Radev, who is leading a delegation of representatives of Bulgarian institutions and companies, will join the presidential panel of the business forum.
