On Thursday, Bulgaria's highest ranked female tennis player Viktoriya Tomova reached the semifinals of the WTA 500 tournament in Bad Homburg (Germany) with a prize purse of EUR 802,237.

World No.58 Tomova saved five match points to secure a hard-fought 2-6, 6-1, 7-6 (9) comeback win against Anna Blinkova of Russia in 2 hours and 14 minutes.

For a spot in the final, the Bulgarian will play Donna Vekic (Croatia), who advanced to the semis following the withdrawal of last season's champion in the competition Katerina Siniakova (Czechia) due to an injury.
