Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh expects a very good summer tourist season. "I expect that if the situation develops well in view of all the factors that affect tourism, we will have a very good summer season," he told journalists on Tuesday in Belene, where he participated in the opening of a tourist information centre.

Borshosh added that a strategy for expanding the summer season is needed, namely for making year-round mountain tourism possible. "These are the big strategies for Bulgarian tourism and, of course, developing settlements like Belene, who are specific, characteristic, which you can't see anywhere else, so that there is interest in them. We will also help with the advertising and marketing strategy for presenting Belene. This is a commitment that I have made to the mayor," he underscored.

The Minister pointed out that the State has so far been indebted to small settlements in their support for the development of tourism, but this will change. He stressed that smaller municipalities sometimes offer much more interesting and significant things than large tourist centres, adding that tourism is one of the conditions for the development of the local economy, so that young people can stay in their hometowns, have a job, and raise their children.
