site.btaEnergy Minister to Inspect Vertical Gas Corridor's Construction


Bulgarian Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov will officially inspect the progress of the accelerated construction of the Vertical Gas Corridor, a strategic energy initiative with international participation. Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov has also been invited to attend, the Energy Ministry said in a press release.
Also to attend are government officials, ministers, and diplomats from the participating countries: Greece, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Ukraine, and Moldova.
The inspection will take place in the village of Mikrevo in Strumyani Municipality (Southwestern Bulgaria).
The Vertical Gas Corridor is a large-scale infrastructure project aimed at enhancing energy security and supply continuity, while providing access to diversified natural gas sources for Bulgaria and the South-East European region. Bulgaria was the first country to take specific steps to expand the capacity of its gas transmission network under this project, the press release said.
