Duni Beach has been fully prepared to welcome the first tourists, a BTA reporter saw on Friday.

Lifeguard posts are in place and equipped, and zones for umbrellas, sunbeds, and free use of beach accessories have been organized. The beach offers open-air showers, sports fields, a children's area, and various water attractions for visitors.

Along the coastal promenade running the length of the beach in Duni resort complex, restaurants and shops are being readied.

For another year in a row, the beach has received the international Blue Flag award. To meet the award's standards, new wooden paths have been installed to improve access to the sea for people with limited mobility, and the restrooms have been renovated to be accessible for people with disabilities.

Like the other prize-winning sites this year—30 beaches and ports in total—the Duni Beach concessionaire has set up a waste separation system. Equipment for cleaning the shoreline is also provided.

The Blue Flag program is managed by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), located in Copenhagen, Denmark. It recognizes beaches and marinas around the world that meet a range of environmental and tourism criteria.

BTA is presenting all 30 Bulgarian beaches and harbours distinguished with the Blue Flag by the programme’s international jury in Copenhagen. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the country’s first award – the pilot Blue Flag was raised at Sunny Beach on July 4, 1995.
