The beach in the Sunny Day resort near Varna is a long-standing winner of the prestigious Blue Flag, the resort's team told BTA. They specified that the beach has been receiving this international environmental award every year since 1996.
According to the team, the Blue Flag Award is a testimonial for the care that the concessionaire of the beach takes for the cleanliness of the strip and the sea waters. The cleanliness of the beach is maintained both mechanically and manually.
Among the pros of the resort are the natural features - the combination of forest and sea, the team also said.
The entire length of the beach is 775 metres. From June 1 to September 15, five lifeguard posts will be working on the beach.
Due to the specificity of the resort tourists, only one parachute attraction is offered on the beach, and jets are not allowed.
The Blue Flag Award is given by the Denmark-based Foundation for Environmental Education, with over 50 countries participating in the programme. In order to qualify for the Blue Flag, a series of stringent environmental, educational, safety, and accessibility criteria must be met and maintained.
BTA is presenting all 30 Bulgarian beaches and harbours awarded the Blue Flag by the international jury of the Programme in Copenhagen. It is the 30th anniversary of the first award for the country - the pilot Blue Flag was raised on Sunny Beach on July 4, 1995.
