site.btaLev-to-Euro Exchange at Bulgarian Post Offices Will Be Commission-Free - Deputy PM Karadjov

Speaking on bTV on Sunday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadjov said that Bulgarian post offices are prepared to handle the upcoming euro changeover. He added that all necessary procedures for the purchase of ID scanners, banknote verification devices, and money counting machines had already been completed.
Karadjov noted that the exchange from the Bulgarian lev to the euro would be commission-free. Larger amounts can also be exchanged upon request, he said.
Commenting on issues in Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ), Karadjov pointed to a lack of discipline and failure to observe traffic rules as the primary causes of railway accidents. He said that cameras are being installed in railway stations and onboard train cars to improve safety. Railway accidents have decreased by 40% in recent months, the Deputy Prime Minister added.
Karadjov was hopeful that within a month and a half, toll cameras would be capable of measuring vehicle speed. A final decision is pending from the Bulgarian Accreditation Service Executive Agency, which must authorize companies to calibrate the devices and ensure they meet legal standards.
