The average pension paid from supplementary pension insurance in the first quarter of 2025 was BGN 232.36, according to data published by the Financial Supervision Commission (FSC) on Tuesday.

The information is based on supervisory reports submitted by pension insurance companies to the FSC.

As of March 31, the total number of participants in all funds managed by pension insurance companies was 5,120,130. During the first quarter of the year, the number of participants increased by 23,893, or 0.47%.

The largest share of the net assets of all funds is held by universal pension funds – 86.91%, followed by occupational pension funds with 6.52%, and voluntary pension funds with 5.61%. Next are deferred payment funds with a share of 0.48%, ahead of life pension funds with 0.41% and the voluntary professional schemes fund with 0.07%.

As of 31 March 2025, the net assets of pension funds amounted to BGN 27.05 billion, reflecting a 2.09% increase compared to 31 December 2024.
