site.btaTaraclia to Celebrate May 24 with Concert and Opening of Ruse University Branch

The town of Taraclia will mark the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture and Slav Letters on May 24 with a celebratory concert and the official opening of a branch of Bulgaria's Angel Kanchev University of Ruse (on the Daube).
On November 11, 2024, Moldovan President Maia Sandu has approved a law ratifying an agreement with Bulgaria to transform the Gregory Tsamblak State University of Taraclia into a branch of the Ruse University - a move which has been discussed since 2019. On March 28, Bulgaria’s Council of Ministers proposed amendments to Decree No. 103 of 1993 in order to expand educational activities among Bulgarians abroad. The draft will open up to 150 places for bachelor and master programmes, as well as 5 places for PhD studies at the Taraclia Branch of Ruse University. The new proposal will allow the University of Ruse to accept students from Moldova under simplified procedures.
The concert, titled Remember Your Language, Origin, and History, will take place at the Stepan Tanov District Cultural Centre on May 24. The programme includes a parade in traditional Bulgarian costumes and performances by the ensembles Chervena Kitka, Balgarski Izvor, the vocal-folk group Chervona Troyanda from the village of Musait, and the Taraclia District Children's Creative Centre.
The event is organized by the Embassy of Bulgaria in Moldova and the Taraclia District Council. Attending will be the Foreign Minister of Bulgaria Georg Georgiev, his Moldovan counterpart Mihai Popsoi, the Bulgarian Ambassador to Chisinau Maya Dobreva, Taraclia District President Lazar Dermenji, Ruse University Rector Desislava Atanasova, and other officials from both countries.
The programme also includes a flower-laying ceremony at the memorial plaque of Saints Cyril and Methodius. The Bulgarian folklore ensemble Rodolyubie will perform at the event.
