Minister of Agriculture and Food Georgi Tahov opened the 3rd National Meeting of Fruit and Vegetable Producers here on Thursday. The event was organized by the National Branch Chamber of Fruit and Vegetables (NBCFV).

The Minister stated that NBCFV is raising important and timely issues related to financing tools aimed at supporting the sector. He underscored that this sector must be supported to ensure food security for the country.

Tahov assured attendees that the Ministry is working to protect the incomes of farmers through the draft law on supply chains in the agri-food sector, which is currently being developed.

Regional Development and Public Works Minister Ivan Ivanov said that the fruit and vegetable sector is a key part of Bulgaria's economy and agriculture, and the voice of those who feed the population should be heard. He underscored that the Bulgarian producer must be prioritized, and assured that he would defend this position as minister.

Ivanov encouraged the participants to remain united, noting that unity would enable them to set the terms for those who buy their products.

During the event, the National Programme for the Development of the Fruit and Vegetable Sector 2025-2035 was presented. The forum also addressed the current challenges facing the sector and potential solutions. The goal of the event was to present a new vision for the future of the sector, according to the organizers.
