Radostin Vasilev, Chairman of Morality, Unity, Honour (MECh) party, told journalists in Parliament on Wednesday that the party proposes nationalization of Lukoil, including the oil refinery, the related infrastructure network and the gas stations. “The goal is for Bulgaria to regain control of a strategic national security site,” he said.

Vasilev noted that his party’s proposal will guarantee that the Bulgarian state receives several billion BGN per year and a 3% budget deficit. The proposal will provide security to Lukoil employees, as well as to Bulgarian citizens with cars, by guaranteeing fuel prices, he argued, adding that the proposal was not included as an item on Parliament’s agenda for this week. Vasilev said that this was done “by a unilateral decision of National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova.”

The MECh leader expects the item to be part of Parliament's agenda next week.
